The Aphrodite Hills Golf Club is located near Paphos in Cyprus, overlooking the Mediterranean, taking its name from the birthplace of Aphrodite, which it overlooks. Aphrodite Hills has been described as an award winning 18 hole championship golf course and academy.
Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, this Cyprus golf course was officially opened in 2002 and is considered to be one of the best in Cyprus. Surrounded by a protected forest, the fairways cut a swathe through lakes, olive and carob trees and the golf course comprises two plateaux separated by a dramatic ravine which offers golfers an original and breathtakingly stunning backdrop.
The Aphrodite Hills golf resort itself spans a massive 234 hectares (578 acres) with the golf course weaving in and around the development. The golf course is 6,299m long and plays at a par 71/70.
The golf resort includes facilities such as a luxury hotel, spa, championship tournament golf course, double-ended 350m practice range, PGA qualified instructors, golfing academy, 3-hole academy course for beginners, luxurious clubhouse with restaurant and bar, and a pro shop offering the latest in golf apparel.
The Aphrodite Hills golf academy features first class practice facilities, including a challenging 3-hole course consisting of two par 4s and a par 3. The academy caters for all ages and abilities under the expert tuition of PGA qualified professionals such as Andrew Darker and Giles Johnson.
Property in Aphrodite Hills is much sought after. Nestled around the Aphrodite Hills golf course are some of the finest examples of modern Cyprus architecture in the form of luxury villas and apartments, all with excellent views of the Aphrodite Hills golf course.

My initial thoughts on golf in Cyprus was that it would be poor and not a patch on the courses I have played in Portugal and Spain. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Aphrodite Hills. The course was immaculate when we played, with some interesting holes. My partner was only a 16 handicap so he struggled on some of the more challenging holes. However, if you are a single handicap golfer you will love this course. It was extremely hot on the day we played so I would strongly recommend sun cream in your golf bag! The club house was very nice; although we did not eat there, we found the staff welcoming.

The Aphrodite Hills golf course is as good as any I have played in Portugal or Spain. Very well thought out and likes to call itself the best golf course in Cyprus, which is difficult to argue with.
Although a little on the expensive side, we couldn’t resist playing this course twice. I’d recommend a buggy as it could be a long walk! The greens were extremely well kept and a credit to the green keepers. The club house is impeccable and we ate there twice; the food was excellent and it was easy to get talking to people at the bar.
All in all, Aphrodite Hills is professionally run and everything from the golf course to the club houseis a high standard.
